1. What is a daguerrotype? What did the surface of a daguerrotype resemble? When were they prominent? What photographic process did the daguerrotype replace?
THIS IS SAID TO BE THE FIRST DAGUERROTYPE
FIRST PICTURE OF A ECLIPSE.
-----A daguerreotype was the first successful photo process. The surface of this resembled a mirror where the light reflected of it on to the silver paper. They were promintent up to the 1860s where they died out in exchange for cheaper cameras.
 2. What is an "albumen" print? What was the main "ingredient" of the albumen process? When did the albumen process die out?

-----It was the first photography which allowed being printed on paper base materials. Its main ingredient was cotton paper dipped in egg whites, It was popular in the 1860s to the 1890s, but died out in the 1900s.
3. What is a "stereograph?" When were they popular?

-----It is a mathmatical sphere for geometry. It is used in photography as some fish eye lenses. This type of math has been used since Egyptian times, and modern computers can carry out the photo aspect in some picture editing programs.
4. What is a "carte de visite?" What were they used for?

-----It is a type of photograph that used the albumen print. It was a small photo (only a couple of inches each side) and grew popular because people bought photos of famous celebrities.
5. Who were Matthew Brady and Alexander Gardner? They both are notable for what type of photography? When were they active? Post two noteworthy photographs for each photographer.
-----Matthew Brady and Alexander Gardner are both famous for their documentation during the civil war. Alexander did photos of the civil war and Abraham Lincoln, while Matthew did the civil war and took photos of famous celebrities.

Nicephore Niepce

Nicephore is famous for taking the first documented photograph. The one above is his oldest surriving one. He took his first picture of the pope. It took him 8 hours to do this. He grew up at Chalon-sur-SaôneSaône-et-Loire.
